Microfiction Monday

Welcome to another Microfiction Monday! Susan at Stony River provides a picture and you  paint a story using
 140 characters or fewer.

Today's picture

My story ~

Not even a bed of his own, but his Master's shoe.
She made a wish as she exchanged the coin for the tooth.
                                                           This child would awake first.

                                                          ~ON THE LIGHTER SIDE~

As she held her breath, the thought crossed her mind.

Will I pass out from the lack of oxygen
or from the stench of this smelly shoe?

Anniversary Giveaway # 2

Last week I came across a blog that was having a Giveaway for their 1 year Anniversary. That got me to thinking and wondering about how long I have been blogging. I went back through all my posts and stats and realized that I have been blogging almost 2 years.

REALLY??
WOW!

If you had asked about my blogging before I looked, that certainly would not have been my answer. My first year (2009) of blogging there was a void of at least 6 months. Wonder what was going on then? Last year, there were week long gapes of blogging. For some, blogging comes as natural as walking and talking. For others, like me, it has been a conscience effort. As time goes on, it becomes easier. BUT ... what makes it easier is people responding.
Notice ... I did NOT SAY becoming a Follower. Yes, it is great to have Followers! BUT comments are just as much a motivator  as Followers, sometimes even more. So, PLEASE ... if you take the time to visit a blog ... take the time to leave a comment. I know, sometimes it may be hard to think of something to say ... BUT ... it really is a great ENCOURAGEMENT to that person.

NOW ... Let's get on to the fun!!
Because I didn't have a Giveaway for my 1st year anniversary, I am having 2 Giveaways. The 1st Giveaway is for my current Followers.

This Giveaway  is open to anyone.

THE RULES:
FOR 1 CHANCE~
LEAVE ME A COMMENT

FOR 2 CHANCES~
YOU MUST BE A FOLLOWER ~ If you are a NEW follower, please be sure to let me know.

Isn't this little Bunny adorable? All dressed up for Spring  ... which hopefully will show up anytime now!

In a sitting position, this bunny measures about 11.5 inches. If you are already a Follower check out Giveaway 1 .
The winner will be announced on Sunday, March 6.

Anniversary Giveaway # 1

The month of March marks the anniversary of my blogging career. The actual date I started was March 8, 2009.Looking back, there were vast gapes between posts. While I enjoy blogging and looking at what my Blogging Friends have to post, I must say it has been hard for me. I'm one of those people who sits and thinks  ...
Why would anyone want to know that I did ... ?

The event of my first anniversary came and went without mention. (I just recently realized that I have been blogging for almost 2 years.) As a result I am having 2 Giveaways. The 1st one (this one) is open only to currant Followers. It's a special little "Thank You" and I hope you will post a comment and enter.

When you look at some people's blogs, you can tell their taste right off the bat.My taste is kind of  Eclectic. I like a little bit of this and that.

I LOVE THIS LITTLE BUNNY!!!

Isn't SHE sweet?!   Isn't  SHE Vintage looking?!

I may just have to go back and get one for myself!

THE RULES ~
YOU MUST BE A CURRANT FOLLOWER.

YOU MUST LEAVE A COMMENT  ABOUT THIS SWEET LITTLE BUNNY AND WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HER.

GOOD LUCK!

This Bunny is 2 wooden pieces. When standing, she measures 11.5 inches tall.

Friday Meme Fun

Good Morning!
Yes, it's another Saturday morning. Late last night I found another meme I'd like to try.
You can find it @ My Little Life blog on Fridays.

Five Question Friday~

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky post to appear Friday morning! And most of all, HAVE FUN!!

1. Can you drive a stick shift?

YES. My husband taught me when we were first married. We have always had a vehicle that is stick (usually what he drives). When I was pregnant with my son, I carried him so low my 3rd trimester that I drove my husband's pickup. I was easier to step up and stretch out than sit down and be smooshed.
2. What are two foods you just can't eat?
     Beets and sauerkraut.

3. Do you buy Girl Scout Cookies? What is your favorite kind?
Yes. We live is a small community. Our neighbors have 2 little girls that split  what is ordered. I usually order 8 boxes (they know a sucker when they see one) of the Peanut butter Sandwich cookies.

4. How do you pamper yourself?
On occasion, every month or so I will get a pedicure. When I work, I am on my feet 6-12 hours a day, depending on the season. I enjoy sitting in the massage chair just as much as I enjoy the pedicure.
Also, when I've had a really LONG week at work, I spend Saturday in my PJ's watching movies all day long. :)

5. What is your nickname and how did you get it?
Only 2 people call me by a nickname, which is really only my first name and middle name together, Vicki Jean.  My Mother's brothers.

Today I am linking this to

ABC Wednesday ~ F is for

FREEDOM

Freedom can  refer to an absence of undue restrictions
and an opportunity to exercise one's rights and powers.

Freedom emphasizes the opportunity given for the
exercise of one's rights, powers, desires, or the like:
freedom of speech or conscience; freedom of movement.

This past week, teachers in the State of Wisconsin
have been exercising their right of this type of FREEDOM.

informative meme.

Winter weather ...coming back

Last week I posted about early Spring  weather. We had a couple of days with temperatures  in the 50's and 60's. Almost all our snow had  melted. THEN, Friday night it began ... the winter weather advisory alerts. Awww ... so is the weather in the mid-west.

Last night when I was out walking the dogs, there was a full moon and you could see the clouds coming in.
Of course, even though it was freezing out, my photography hormones kicked in. I'm sure the cars that were passing my home at 12:30am were wondering who was out with a camera ... taking picture of who knows what.

LOL

How I wish you could get the detail of the moon and the clouds together ... but it doesn't work that way.
As for "Winter weather", so far we have gotten only rain and slushy rain. They are still saying that we are to get up to 6 inches of snow tonight.

WHERE ARE YOU EARLY SPRING?!

I'm linking up to Debbiedoos Newbie Party.
Some day I'll surprise you and post a craft.  :)

Early Spring ~A Love / Hate relationship~

Here it is mid February, not that cold weather is past, but hopefully the brutal weather is done. This time of year I have Love / Hate feelings for the weather and what is going on outside. Here in the upper Mid-West the weather can change at the drop of a hat. For instance, today's temperature is suppose to be close 60f (15c). Tomorrow's temperature is suppose to be 32f (0c).

Things I HATE about early Spring~
Vast temperature differences.
Dampness
Cold, rainy days and nights
brown/gray scenery
mud

Things I LOVE about early Spring~
more daylight
birds singing
Days can be warm.
buds on tree limbs and bushes
not wearing a heavy coat
fresh air
hints of green grass

This is what it looks like outside today.

This is what I'm waiting to see

Wishing you a great week-end. Hoping  the weather is nice enough that you can get out and enjoy it.
~Vicki~

ABC Wednesday ~E is for ...

EXPEDIA

Do you travel? A lot? A little?
Do you use discount travel sites?
I travel a bit, some years more than others
and ALWAYS check out the discount travel sites.

I must say that I don't use Expedia all that much,
BUT ... if you are going some where and need a
flight, room, and car try Expedia. They have GREAT deals!

EXAMPLE: Last Fall, my daughter, her friend, and I planned a trip to Hawaii.
When first looking, we were just looking at airfare. That alone was going to be about
$630.00 per person. Expedia "claims" you can save 40% by booking a package, which includes,
airfare, hotel, and car. (Even though, we now know you don't need a car for a week)
That is what we booked, flight, 6 days in a hotel, and car for $745.00 per person.
Best of all, by the pictures you can see, we had a great time!

                                                       The view from our hotel.

Meet Me on Monday

Here I go again ...

When you get a new follower, do you really check them out and become their follower? I try to. I know there are people out there who don't. How sad for them! They are really missing out. I believe that each person who touches your life, somehow enriches it.

Anyway, down to business ...

I have a new follower, Chrissy @ Roses, Rhubarb, and Pearls. I saw that she was linking up to a party called
"Meet Me on Monday". So today, again, I am joining a new linkie party. I am excited to see who I might meet there.
What is Meet Me on Monday  ... in a nut shell ..

Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you  questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we  can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

Today's 5 questions are:

1.  Did you get any Valentine's Gifts?

A red tea rose plant to go in my garden. A bag of Robin Eggs Easter candy. (My favorite.)

2.  What is your favorite topping on something toasted?

Honey and walnut flavored cream cheese.

3.  Do you pick out your outfit the night before?

No, unless it is some special event that I am attending the next day.

4.  What food item do you absolutely despise?

      Calamari

5.  Righty or lefty?

     Right handed.

Hopefully, next week my answers will be more intriguing ... LOL

Mother's Chocolate Valentine

When my children were growing up they had a favorite Valentine book.

"It's Valentine's Day"
by
Jack Prelutsky

This is a book full of silly little short stories put in poem form.
Here is one of their favorites.

"Mother's Chocolate Valentine"

I bought a box of chocolate hearts,
a present for my Mother,
they looked so good I tasted one,
and then I tried another.

They both were so delicious,
 that I ate another four,
and then another couple,
and then half a dozen more.

I couldn't seem to stop myself,
I nibbled on and on,
before I knew what happened,
all the chocolate hearts were gone.

I felt a little guilty,
I was stuffed down to my socks,
I ate my Mother's Valentine ...
I hope she likes the box.

HAPPY VALENTINES'S DAY

XOXOXO
