GROUNDHOG DAY is a holiday celebrated on February 2 in the United States and Canada . According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter-like weather will soon end. If it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for 6 more weeks.
The Groundhog living in our area, JIMMY, supposedly saw no shadow and came out of his burrow.

I'm ready for spring, too. Stiff winds in Albany, NY.

Who knew we employed so many groundhogs to predict this. Even they can't all agree...lol...Really cute post.
That's the positive side of blogging you learn really a lot. I had never heard about this groundhogs and even less about a Groundhog Day !!

Interesting.
Please visit my first ABC entry, thank you and nice to meet you through ABC.
I am now your follower, will you follow my blog too?
It seems to be equally split between the forecasts and by the official groundhog.. well, he seems to have been wrong for most of the country. I think we have seen the last snow... over 16 inches total for the winter season and that is about 12 inches more than normal for coastal Virginia. Now, we have the yo-yo... 80 one day and 40 the next then 65 and 42 and 70 and 38... no clue as to tomorrow... it should be a cold day.
Interesting post not so familiar thanks for sharing .. have time to visit my G entry :)
love the geese image ..
well done.
