As we start a new year, 2010, I hope to be better about blogging ...
SO LET'S BEGIN...
As you know New Year's EVE was the BLUE MOON. If you don't know, a BLUE MOON is the second full moon in a month. The past few night's have been georgous! Bright, silvery, blue, almost a dusk like appearance. The snow, shimmery, crunchy ... all Mid-Westerners know that if the sky is clear and crisp the temperature is COLD. How cold is cold? Last night's high was suppose to be -2 F. About 10:30 pm I took the dogs out for their last walk. It was especially bright and things were well lit. Our puppy, Piper, does not like the cold and was having a hard time walking in the cold weather. She does not really walk in the snow, she hops and skips and tries her best to get back to the door as fast as possible. Still, we took the path down one driveway, down the road, up the road, past the driveway, around the corner, and up the long driveway. As, we passed the large Oak at the side of the driveway, maybe 20 feet from the door, we heard howling. I'd like to say ... FAINT HOWLING in the FAR DISTANCE, but it was not... it was not FAINT and it was not FAR.
Tillie, our older dog, who normally ignores all animals but those she knows, turned and looked in the direction of the howling and then she looked at me. Inside we went. Wonder what we'll find or hear tonight.
