ABC Wednesday ~ J &K

I'm a little early for ABC Wednesday. Again, I am posting 2 letters.
From last week ... the letter ~ J
J is for JOURNEY ~

jour·ney (jʉr)
noun pl. journeys -·neys
  1. the act or an instance of traveling from one place to another; trip
  2. any course or passage from one stage or experience to another

For the week  ... the letter ~K
K is for ~ kicking back

kicking back~ chilling, relaxing, chillaxing, relax, weekend holiday

I know I haven't been posting too much the past couple of weeks. I have been working and getting ready for a Journey

It is Spring Break week!!

Yea!!!

We will be heading out early Monday morning. I am ready to be kicking back, soaking up sunshine and warmth! Joining me , my oldest daughter and her 2 children. We have been counting the days, although the grandkids have no idea where they are going, and know that once it is here, it will, just as quickly, be over.

Right now the 13 year old is not too happy. She will not be able to communicate with her school friends in any way shape or form. She is already a text addict and is totally bummed that her cell phone will not be traveling with her.

The 9 year old is in fact somewhat interested in what he thinks may happen. At least he won't be BORED at home.

A great adventure awaits them. We will take hundreds of pictures to help us remember this time together.

I just LOVE Spring Break!

Meet Me on Monday

I know it's |Sunday night ... BUT it's really Monday in blogland...

Welcome to another MEET ME ON MONDAY! What is Meet me on Monday??
It's a fun little meme hosted by JAVA @ Never Growing Old.
Java  will post five get to know you  questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we  can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!
Its a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better....one Monday at a time!

Today's Questions:
1.  What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
None. I use to wear jewelry a lot, but
    now...hardly ever ... and because of a
    hemoglobin (kind oflike a strawberry
    birthmark),I can't even wear my
    wedding ring. Sometimes my finger
swells and that could be dangerous.

2.  Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
If I have pasta, it is usually Penne or
Ziti. So,that would be NO to both!

3.  How many siblings do you have?
I am the oldest of 5 siblings.
By age, my youngest brother (16 yrs. younger)
middle brother (5 yrs. younger)
oldest brother (3 yrs. younger)
sister ( 18 yrs. younger)
AND yes, we all have the same parents!

4.  Were you named after anyone?
    Not that I know of.

5.  Coke or Pepsi?
Growing up, we always had Pepsi
in our house. I love Pepsi!
But ... after having Colon Surgery 17 years ago
the carbonation upsets my stomach.  On occasion,
I  can drink a Coke. It has less carbonation.

ABC Wednesday ~ H & I

Ok ... I'm getting farther and farther behind. Work is CRAZY and time is zooming by. Of course, it always gets busier as the weather warms up (we still have patches of snow on the ground) and , at present moment, I'm feeling older than I really am.

ANYWAY ...
This is my ABC Wednesday post on Thursday.
Why today? Because I am 2 letters behind.

H is for HOCKEY~
                                               My Grandson's Hockey team  is
made up of boys ages 8 & 9.
For most, it is their second year of playing.

This is my Grandson. He has pretty much taken
to skating like a duck takes to water.

Here he is chasing the puck.
His position is Defenseman, usually left side

Being a Defenseman, you are pretty much in the back wings,
protecting the goal. This year he has made 1 goal.
Pretty good for the guy who is suppose to be in the background.

I is for IRIS~

Even though we have warmer weather, we are in "limbo land", somewhere between "a chance of snow"  and
"the threat of flooding" This is the time of year I like the least. Everything is a gray-brown color. How I long for that "perfect" Spring green. While out walking with the dogs on Tuesday, I did notice the tips of my Daffodils breaking through the ground.  What an encouraging sign. BUT ... I am long for tall flowers (really ... any flowers), in the colors of the rainbow.

I still have a few months before these beauties appear.

Meet Me on Monday

What's a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better...."Meet Me on Monday!"

Each week, Java from Never Growing Old post 5 questions for you to answer. Join in the fun! Let your followers know a little something about you and make some new friends!

Today's questions :

1. Do you have a fireplace in your home?
We have 2.  The one upstairs is a gas burning fireplace. The fireplace
downstairs is a wood burning one. Neither one works. My hubby would like to
put in a corn or pellet burner downstairs. We have been in the process of
re-doing the downstairs. Soon he will have to decide.

This is not a very good picture, but it gives you an idea of what the upstairs fireplace looks like.

2.  Can you drive a stick shift?
Yes, I can. My husband taught me when we first got married, 32 years ago.
We have always had a stick shift pickup. The truck I learned to drive on
    looked like this.
The one we have now  looks like this.

3.  How many computers are in your home?
     We have 3 of these.
And these 2.

4.  Are your taxes done yet?  Do you do them yourself?
No, they are not done yet. My hubby does them and he is usually running to
the post office at 10pm the day they are due.

5.  What is your favorite meal of the day?
Even though, most of the time I have coffee and toast or yogurt. I LOVE
      breakfast!

I pretty much like potatoes in any way... shape ... or form . . . BUT . . . the way I eat them most is at breakfast. I LOVE hash browns with onion, bacon, and melted cheddar cheese. Sounds low cal ... Right??! Lol. Good thing we only have these a couple times a month.

THANK YOU LESLIE!! This is such an extra special gift!

3.  What is your favorite scent that you love to smell?

I have both purple and white Lilacs in my yard. They are on the side of my home where my bedroom is. I love waking up to the smell of them. I just wished that they lasted longer then the do.

Nope, not me!

5.  Are your parents married or divorced?

My parents where married for 29 years, 3 months, and 19 days when my Mother passed away from complications due to having cancer. My Father passed away 4 years later from a heart defect. This past December would have been their 50th Anniversary.

Doubles~Thematic Photographic 136

It's time to try and get back in the swing of things. Going back to work aways is exhausting for me. It really takes a toll on my blogging. Leaving between 4& 6 am for a job doesn't give me time in the morning and by the time I get home ... I just want to relax.

So... I am a couple days late for Carmi's Thematic Photographic theme... but what the heck! This week Carmi has chosen the theme of DOUBLES.

Here are my choices ~

ABC Wednesday ~ G

G is for GROUNDHOG ~
Specifically ... Groundhog Day

NO ... Not the movie Groundhog Day featuring  Bill Murry and Andie MacDowell

GROUNDHOG DAY is a  holiday celebrated on February 2 in the United States and Canada . According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter-like weather will soon end. If it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for 6 more weeks.

The Groundhog living in our area, JIMMY, supposedly saw no shadow and came out of his burrow.
Here is it 30 days later and we still have a good amount of snow on the ground.
We have had snow for 2 months!Am I complaining? YES!! I am ready for SPRING! While in the doldrums of winter, Groundhog Day gives us hope, gives us something to look forward to ... Spring! Would it come without Groundhog Day?? Of course! There are many places in the world that have not heard of this day ... let alone celebrate it.
