STINGRAY ~
Last year my husband and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary with a Cruise. One of our excursions was to Grand Cayman. There we took a boat to STINGRAY CITY, which is a large sandbar in the ocean where boats anchor and tourist can view and swim with Stingray.
Female Stingray are HUGE!
Male stingray are much, much smaller.
It is said,If you kiss a Stingray, you will receive 7 years of good luck.
You can find more posts at
The one with the lethal tail is the MALE, the smaller one.
The males tend to skim the bottom and that should be a sign that they want to be left alone.
Females are very friendly and the HUGE ones. They can be 6 feet across. The people on these boats do this almost every day and know the stingray by their markings, so they know which one can be handled.

They are so huge! but isn't it dangerous to be swimming with them? The tail can be a very lethal weapon!
Isn't it wonderful to see these and other sea creatures in their natural habitat! I did this off the coast of Mexico some years ago and it was fabulous! Gorgeous photos. Thanks for sharing! Have a great week!

Oh, my, they are huge!! I would be scared to death but I love your shots!!
S is for street and...
Wonderful photos of this unique creature. I,too, wondered about the safety.
Such amazing creatures but I think I would like to enjoy them from afar.
well, no, I won't be kissing them, thank you. But interesting tail, er tale.
On behalf of the ABC Wednesday team, thank you!
Well, did you kiss one???
I love being on a cruise. My sons and their wives did the sting-ray excursion and just loved the experience.
They are huge and dangerous. I remember it was a stingray who killed that Hunter guy in Florida? Anyway, I remember my grandfather has this tail from the stingray and when my grandfather died he gave it to my Uncle. Now the story is that if you are being whip by a stingrays tail you will be dead! As a kid with that kind of story you are scared. So we (siblings and cousins) behave all the time or else we will be whip by stingrays tail lol! My Uncle died long time ago and not once and nobody was ever been whipped. And now I even don't know where was that stingrays tail. Well that is just my little story hehe. Thanks for the space. Happy Wednesday!

Interesting sea critters. I wonder if one would have 7 years of bad luck for not kissing a stingray? Good post!
Gosh, I used to be scared to death of stingrays. Great story and photos!
That is so cool!!! What a great experience :)

Question is of course: did you kiss one?
Yes, I did ... and also let one massage my back.
So the females are dominant and friendly! It was ever so!
Ahhh, they're huge! We have the small kind here in St. Petersburg, and I still wouldn't dare to touch them. :D
Happy Wednesday!
Oh No!!!! I hope they heard about Steve Irwin. We don't want another tragedy.
lovely creatures - only seen them at a sea-life centre - they weren't as big as these.
What a lovely anniversary trip.

By the way, I followed you in Google connect. This is one way to keep in touch. Hope you do the same

A nice post, but I think I'll forgo the kiss...
Love the photos and your post. But I'd forego the opportunity to have seven years of good luck, I think. No, actually, I know I would.
Congrats on 30 years of wedded bliss. Entrepreneur and I are coming up on our 30th in July. Stingrays are awesome creatures! We saw baby ones while swimming in an inlet in Cancun a few years ago. Not sure I need luck that bad to kiss one though. :)
Congratulations on 30 years! An accomplishment to be proud of for sure!
We've done that stingray thing too-isn't that incredibly unique?
What a perfect post!
The female stingrays are huge and friendly? Interesting post!
I wonder if I would dare kiss a stingray though! What does the "sting" in "stingray" mean!?? Can't they hurt you?
Great post, good choice of S-word!
Best wishes,
